Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Alexei Overchuk held a meeting with Prime Minister of Mongolia Nyam-Osoryn Uchral on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok.
The sides discussed the current state of and outlook for Russian-Mongolian trade and economic cooperation, which received fresh impetus following the entry into force of the Provisional Trade Agreement between the Member States of the Eurasian Economic Union and Mongolia. They also discussed joint efforts to strengthen transport connectivity across Eurasia and the implementation of a number of joint energy and industrial projects.
Alexei Overchuk noted that Mongolia was an important partner in Russia’s trade relations. Over the past five years, trade between Russia and Mongolia has increased by 40 percent, from $1.9 billion to $2.7 billion. In 2025, trade increased by a further 4.5 percent to $2.7 billion. In 2026, trade has continued to grow, increasing by 18.1 percent in the first six months of the year.
Particular attention was paid to preparations for the Second Forum of Regions of Russia and Mongolia, which will be held in Ulaanbaatar on 14–15 September. Alexei Overchuk will lead the Russian delegation. The forum’s agenda will focus on strengthening transport connectivity between Russia and Mongolia, the role of the regions in developing Eurasian transport corridors, and cooperation in organising the Eurasian tourist space. The first Russian-Mongolian Media Forum will also be held in Ulaanbaatar alongside the Second Forum of Regions of Russia and Mongolia, as will the first meeting of the Joint Committee on the Implementation of the EAEU Trade Agreement.
Following the talks, the sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to the further progressive development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the Russian Federation and Mongolia and agreed to continue their established regular and systematic dialogue between the two governments.
