Sixty years ago today, the Semipalatinsk test site hosted the first successful thermonuclear test. This technological breakthrough occurred thanks to the work and scientific research of outstanding Russian experts – scientists, engineers, and designers.

Creating a new generation of weapons was not only an effective tool for the protection of national security, but also a milestone in the construction of the global nuclear deterrence system, which today provides lasting peace on the planet.
