Directive No. 2308-r of 27 August, 2026
The permanent multilateral motor vehicle checkpoint for cargo and passenger traffic, Khasan, located on the border with the DPRK, is set to open in the Primorye Territory. The directive to this effect has been signed.
The throughput capacity of the checkpoint will be 300 vehicles per day. Initially, cargo traffic will commence through the border crossing. By the end of 2026, it will be fully operational.
The directive has been prepared within the framework of the Federal Law on the State Border of the Russian Federation, under which the opening of checkpoints prior to the completion of the full scope of construction and equipping works is permitted on the basis of a Government legislative act.
On 7 September, a ceremony to mark the completion of the construction of a road bridge across the Tumannaya River took place on the Russian-Korean border in the Primorye Territory. Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin attended the event on the Russian side. He noted that, in addition to the bridge, a state border checkpoint had been built on the Russian-Korean border in record time.
“It was designed to accommodate projected growth in freight and passenger traffic,” Mikhail Mishustin noted.
According to the Prime Minister, the expansion of border transport infrastructure will give a powerful impetus to the further development of trade, economic, scientific, technological, and cultural cooperation between Russia and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.
